In My Heart

For a time, before I would begin a piece, I would paint the names of my children on the raw blank canvas before I would begin with the matrix of a piece. My children who were two and five at the time of the creation of this piece were becoming fascinated with seeing their names. Nambo, who was two, and just starting to run would read the letters aloud and shout his name after he read them. Phuong Mai, whose nickname was “Soc” meaning squirrel, would try to jump high enough to touch her name near the top of the canvas. As I began to cover up their names, they began to complain. I finally relented and left a couple of them uncovered. It is my expression of all that there is to love about children and parenting. Chaos often rules yet love always wins the day. PEACE
